October 3: Catalan, Kurdistan, and Independence

I am always on the side of independence.

I am ALWAYS on the side of independence.

Regardless of the country or the cause, I am always on the side of letting people live the way they want to live. I believe in the right of people to govern themselves, and in the evil of imperialism.  I believe the only good unions, whether we are talking about marriages or politics, are the ones where both parties are willing and committed participants. Unity bought with violence, coercion, and duress is not unity. It is neo-colonialism.

And so, having said that, I have been keeping a special eye on Catalonia and Kurdistan. While the history of these two fledgling nations is yet to be written, I believe in the right of every people for self-determination. While I have been watching these events unfold I have found an awesome blog that I think you should know about.

For more info on Catalonia and the Spanish crackdown on the independence movement there, please read The Week Spain Lost Catalonia and don’t forget to follow Josep Goded’s blog, Seeking Truth, for more updates.
