October 5: I Suck At Blogging

I suck at writing. Often, I go days without working on any projects or assignments. I feel as though my words have dried up in my head and even stringing together a sentence feels taxing.

Objectively I know that the more you write the better your writing gets. I have been writing long enough to know that putting SOMETHING on paper every day is crucial to productivity. I know, I know, and yet…

So I suck at blogging. I don’t know anything about SEO or how to make friends and gain followers. In fact, I have run into a wealth of how-to’s for blogging for profit, but I’m not in this for the money. (But if you WANT to give me money, buy my books when they drop.) I’m sure there’s a course about it somewhere, but I probably won’t take it. Instead, I’ll keep blogging, horribly, but unceasingly.

I’ll keep churning out original content about things and ideas that matter to me at the moment. I’ll keep reflecting on things and sharing my reflections with my small handful of followers. Why? Because blogging makes me a better writer, and whether I improve in fits and starts my ultimate goal is to improve. Because I want to talk to YOU, the reader. You right there. I want to tell you a little about my world and perhaps remind you that you aren’t alone in yours. And lastly, because I don’t want to give up.

I want to tell you a little about my world and perhaps remind you that you aren’t alone in yours. And lastly, because I don’t want to give up and conventional wisdom says that if you do something long enough you’re bound to improve.

Luckily I am not alone in the dungeons of the Blogger-sphere. Fellow Bad Blogger Herminia Chow is also sharing her insights about writing, books, and life at on her blog. Go check it out. And for a look into the life of somebody who has been blogging badly for years without ever giving in, check out Cristian Mihai’s reflection on FIVE YEARS of blogging daily, no matter the consequences.
