RoW80: I Love A Challenge

After what I consider to be the great success of my NaNoWriMo 2017, I decided to expand the insanity into the new year. There’s a story that has been evolving in my head for a few months now (with copious notes in Evernote to prove it) and now I have decided it’s ripe enough to begin writing.

There’s just one problem.

I have a metric ton of crap to do!

So, seeing how I respond so well to things like habit trackers (I like to fill in the boxes) graphs (I like to color in the boxes) and writing challenges ( I like to think outside the box, and then color them in)I found a great writing challenge to kick off the new year.

Round of Words in 80 Days is a great challenge that’s held 4 times a year. The goal is simple. You choose any measurable writing activity and set a daily goal that you keep up for 80 days straight. While completing your word-count in 30 days may be the goal in NaNoWriMo, consistency is the goal for RoW80. It doesn’t matter how big, or how small your daily goal is as long as its DAILY.

So, considering the amount of work I have coming my way for 2018, I have decided that I can consistently deliver at LEAST 500 words in my new manuscript.  At the end of 80 days that should give me 40K words, or a nice sized novella. In reality, I’ll probably surpass that word count on most days. But that’s not the point. The point is to make sure that every day I make progress on this project.

As always I will be letting you read along as I write my rough draft on Wattpad. Please show your love and support.

Also, I am beginning the first round of editing on Unintended Consequences. I’ll be sure to let you know how that progresses and keep you all up to date on all of my projects.

Thanks for all of your support thus far, and have a happy New Year!

  1. Congrats on your NaNo win! Glad to hear you’re joining us for the ROW80 and that you’ve got your eye on a serious end of the year prize there. 500 words a day is a nice test mile to work from. You can always do more, and cheer yourself on, but it kind of stinks to miss the mark here and there… 😉

    Have a great one.
